Are you looking for an easy and healthy hot honey chicken recipe? This easy recipe helps you stay on track with your healthy eating by using chicken breast and just a few key ingredients for a sweet + spicy sauce! This is sure to be one of your favorite chicken dinner recipes or as part of your weekly meal prep. I have definitely seen other recipes out there requiring way more work and ingredients, but I promise you this simple recipe is full of flavor and you will LOVE IT!

Where do you find hot honey?

As you can see in the recipe below, I share how to make your own hot honey sauce in case you don’t have any on hand. I didn’t have actual hot honey on hand the first time I made this! I do prefer the pre-made hot honey, but for a similar flavor you can easily mix some hot sauce and honey yourself.

I have not seen hot honey in my regular grocery store, however - I found mine on my most recent trip to Trader Joe’s. Additionally, you can purchase hot honey on Amazon. Who knows - but depending where you live, check the honey aisle in your store and maybe you’ll get lucky! I really enjoyed the flavor of the Trader Joe’s hot honey - just the right mix of spicy and sweet!

How spicy is this hot honey chicken recipe?

The spiciness of your chicken will depend on how spicy your hot honey is. I did not find Trader Joe’s hot honey very spicy, but if you look at the different variations in brands and flavors - definitely choose a hot honey that matches your taste. I definitely could have gone spicier!

What to serve with your hot honey chicken:

I served mine as the protein in my Le Bowl recipe - and highly highly highly recommend trying that! When paired with the basic Le Bowl recipe it makes a delicious complete meal. 

Another healthy option is paring this with my Cilantro-Lime Cauliflower Rice. This makes it a perfect 2B Mindset dinner plate-it option.

Generally speaking I think this chicken could be used as a great topping for salad, or in a wrap or chicken sandwich and it definitely goes well with rice. If you like spicy foods, this is sure to be one of your favorite recipes because it is so versatile, yet full of flavor. With so many choices when it comes to chicken recipes, this is sure to be a keeper!

Easy Hot Honey Skillet Chicken

A sweet and spicy healthy chicken recipe!
Prep time: 5 MinCook time: 15 MinTotal time: 20 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken breast, chopped into bite size pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Better than Boullion chicken flavor
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup hot honey OR 1 teaspoon hot sauce and 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Heat oil over medium heat in large skillet.
  2. Season chicken with salt and pepper and toss to coat well.
  3. Add seasoned chicken to skillet in single layer.
  4. Cook chicken on first side for 4-5 minutes until well browned, then stir and continue to cook until all pieces are browned and additional 5 minutes.
  5. Add Better than Boullion and water to skillet and stir well.
  6. Add hot honey (or hot sauce and honey) to skillet and stir well.
  7. Increase to medium-high heat until sauce is hot and bubbly and starts to caramelize. Stir chicken and sauce until cooked through and you can see it coated in the golden brown hot honey glaze.
  8. Serve immediately or use for meal prep!
