Le Bowl
This post is about Le Bowl Recipe
Have you heard of the infamous Le Bowl, yet?! I first heard of Le Bowl by following Amber Lancaster on Instagram - she has a version in her stories if you want to see how she makes it! I took her basic recipe and tweaked it - and since I’m just a regular Mom in Massachusetts, I didn’t even realize the original recipe comes from a bougie restaurant in West Hollywood called Zinqúe (I mean, just looking at the name, I think that’s all we need to know about it, lol!) I guess “zinc” just wasn’t cool enough, ahahaha!. Apparently when they aren’t dodging paparazzi, allll the celebrities eat there and this lunch bowl is a favorite.
And I have to say, it is worth the HYPE - I have made it 4 times in the past week and literally dream about when I will make it next. I’m having a lot of fun playing with the ingredients. Don’t take the recipe too seriously! I have not made it the same exact way twice, yet!
What protein should I serve it with?
So, my favorite thing about this recipe is how versatile it is! I made it vegetarian, then with a burger and I plan to make it with air fryer salmon next time! You could literally use any protein, I just recommend using mild seasoning, since the bowl has so much flavor itself.
Do I need to use jasmine rice?
Heck no! I’ve heard the original recipe uses brown rice, but I always have jasmine rice on hand, so that’s what I use. I like how its slightly sticky and the important part is to make sure you serve the bowl with WARM rice - this will help mix the flavors together and it is SO good!
Do I need to use cheddar cheese?
The original recipe calls for Comté cheese, but I had the cheddar in my fridge, so that is what I used. I have no idea what Comté cheese taste like - but I did find it at the grocery store. I might try it next time. Again - like ALL my recipes, just use this as a guide and find something that works for you!
Can I make this low-carb?
You could definitely substitute the rice with cauliflower rice and that may be something I try down the road! If you’re committed to a low-carb life, then that is your best bet. I do love how quick and easy this recipe is and I do not eat carbs with my dinner most nights, so I will definitely be trying that swap at some point, but for now - I’ll be sticking with this recipe for my lunch because it is just THAT easy!
Packing for a work/school lunch:
I think this makes an excellent portable lunch. I would keep the rice warm in a thermos or reheat it if possible and keep all the components separate. You can marinate the tomatoes and onion - but keep the greens away from the dressing until just before serving.
Will eating this turn me into a celebrity?
Definitely.
