The Easiest Baked Apple Slices in the Slow Cooker
This post is about the easiest baked apple slices in the slow cooker.
Wow! This delicious baked apple slices recipe is made even easier in your slow cooker! Fresh apples, plus a few simple ingredients will make this one of your favorite healthy recipes.
As a bonus, using your slow cooker will make your whole house smell AMAZING!
What type of apples should you use?
Granny Smith, Honeycrisp apples, and fuji apples are all great apple varieties available year round for this recipe. I feel Granny smith are definitely a tarter apple, but they are one of the best apples to hold up well during the baking process.
During peak apple season, there are even more varieties of apples readily available.
Generally speaking, using a baking apple variety with a firm flesh will work best, otherwise a softer apple will end up more like applesauce.
How to make your healthy baked apple slices
This is such a simple recipe, because your slow cooker is the perfect way to bake your apple slices without being stuck in the kitchen.
First, you will peel and slice your apples. You may want to use an apple corer or actual apple peeler and slicer to make sure no seeds end up in your slow cooker. Even if just using a peeler and sharp knife, this only takes a few minutes.
Next, you will mix your apple slices with the lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Your apple slices do not need to be in a single layer in your slow cooker.
Finally, place the lid on your slow cooker and set heat on the low setting.
Since slow cooker cooking times can vary its a good idea to check your apple slices after 3 hours. Stir and check your apple slices for doneness. You want your warm cinnamon apples to be tender when pierced with a fork and still hold their shape. If they are not done, wait an additional 30 minutes and check again.
What to serve with your baked apple slices
These delicious cinnamon apple slices can be used in SO many different ways! Here are some of my favorites:

There are so many ways to make this recipe part of any healthy eating plan!
