This post is about honey miso salmon recipe.
This honey miso salmon recipe is so freaking good! It is so quick and easy to make in the air fryer. If you are looking for another delicious salmon recipe to add into your rotation, this is the one!
The ingredients
Salmon - I recommend fresh salmon fillets for this recipe. If needed, you could thaw frozen salmon and follow the directions as written. Try to find a thicker cut of salmon, if you can only find thin salmon filets, cut the cooking time down to 8-9 minutes.
Miso Paste - miso paste can be found in either the refrigerated section or the international/Asian foods section of grocery stores. There are a few different types of miso. I used brown rice miso, but most miso is made from soybeans. The miso paste gives this recipe a deep umami flavor.
Honey - use your favorite honey, you could even use hot honey for some extra spiciness!
Sriracha - use any hot sauce that you like, Sriracha blends well with these flavors.
Sesame Oil - you can use toasted or plain sesame oil. It adds depth and flavor to this salmon recipe.
Warm water - use warm water to thin out your miso-honey sauce. If you would like the marinade a little thinner, add water a little bit at a time after the first 2 tablespoons.
Optional ingredients - feel free to top off your salmon with chopped green onions or sesame seeds.
How to make the honey-miso salmon
After mixing your honey-miso sauce, you will marinate the salmon for about 15-30 minutes in your fridge. If you don’t have time to marinate your salmon, you can skip this step. It will still be yummy!
Then you will cook it on high heat which creates a delicious and crispy glaze on the top of the salmon.
I recommend making this recipe in an air fryer. Using the air fryer creates the crispy glaze and adds a nice crunch.
An alternative to the air fryer is to make it in your oven. I’ve provided directions for both the air fryer and oven in the recipe card below.
What to serve with honey-miso salmon
The miso glaze is incredibly rich and flavorful, so keep your side dishes simple. I recommend serving it with plain jasmine rice and a vegetable like steamed broccoli or baby bok choy.
My entire family loves this honey-miso salmon recipe and I hope yours does as well!
