Easy Bagel Recipe (No-Yeast)
This post is about easy bagel recipe no-yeast
Normally, I just give you the recipe - no story needed, but with these I wanted to share some important points so that you can get the most out of this recipe without needless frustration.
First off, I don’t take credit for the basics behind this recipe - the girls in my nutrition bootcamp were sharing different versions of these and I FINALLY tried them! To be honest, I had been a bit intimidated.
However, my kids LOVE bagels and I thought this would be such a great option if I could get the hang of it. Even though I do bake my own bread at times, I’ve never made bagels and it just seemed too easy to be true. I initially looked at the Skinnytaste recipe, but decided to tweak it a bit - little did I know just how easy it would be to make perfect bagels every time!
A few notes before you look at the recipe - I choose to make mine with bread flour. I find bread flour makes a HUGE difference when working with pizza dough and bread dough. I’ve heard using all-purpose, whole wheat or even gluten-free flour works well, too -but I have to say I’m in love with the texture you get using the bread flour.
Its also important we talk about toppings - I find when using the Everything But the Bagel seasoning, it can add a LOT of saltiness. If you’re using this topping, I recommend cutting back on the salt a bit.
Other toppings I’ve tried: sesame seeds, shredded cheddar cheese, and of course plain bagels with only the egg wash! But have fun with it!
One final note - my recipe makes 8 bagels and honestly, I probably need to adjust it to make a full dozen! Also, these are definitely smaller than what you get a typical bagel, shop - but that is a GOOD thing. They are still hearty, filling and delicious. You don’t need all those extra calories or carbs from a gigantic bagel. This is a snack my kids LOVE and with one kid who loves carbs and is so so so picky about protein, I love knowing he’s getting that extra protein, too! So if you want to start with just 4 bagels, simply cut the recipe in half.
These make fantastic bagel sandwiches, or add your favorite cream cheese, butter, or nut butter. Enjoy!
